Mother forgot here security key password, need help!

My mother has forgotten here security password for her wireless network, she's connected through her D-Link router. The router will not let me in even though it tells you on the bottom of router to use admin as password and leaving the password blank, so we tried to click on "show characters" and it's greyed out. The security type WPA-Personal encryption type AES. "Name" and "SDID" are the same.

Windows Vista updated.

We appreciate any help!

Thank you, Systemlord.

Isn't there a reset switch? I'v seen on a few of them there is usually one that resets all the settings and password.

If not, you could try unplugging the router for a minute and plugging it back in. That should reset your router.

I'm having great difficulty after resetting the router, when trying to connect to router computer says, "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network." I don't have a wireless network at home so I don't know what to do!

You probably just need to delete the old wireless network settings. On windows 7 (hopefully vista is the same), click the wifi network thing near the clock, then click "open network sharing center". Then on the left panel, click "manage wireless networks". You can then right click the network and delete it so you can make new settings when you try to connect.

Alright I deleted my mother's network in "Manage wireless network", reset the router (unplugged for ten minutes) and when trying to connect to a network I see my mom's old network name that says secure network enabled. I thought I deleted that? I don't think the router is resetting but I don't know what else to do.

On the back of the router, there should be a little hole that says "reset". You need to stick a pin or something really thin into it to press the button down for a few seconds. This will reset the router to the same as it came new. Then you can log in to the router with the password on the bottom, and set up the wireless network again.

After you set up a new network for your mom, try to write the password on the bottom of the router. Even better if you have some sort of label you can write it on then stick to the bottom.
