Unless I missed something, tressFX runs perfectly fine on Nvidia cards. Physx runs on Cpu for AMD users and has nothing to do with the cards performance.
So once again, how is this related to my post?
tressFX runs on the direct compute of the gpu and was implemented by AMD knowing full well nvidia precluded DC on keplers. though nvidia "patched" it in the subsequent drivers, it still has a larger performance h
if you are going to enable all the "eye candy" of one game, esp. when it favors one of the manufacturers, then you need to run the same on each game.
I prefer Nvidia GPUs, but seriously, I'm with AMD on this one. Are you excusing Nvidia for having gimped compute on their mid turned high end GTX 600 series cards ? GTX 400 and 500 series cards don't take that hit.
AMD helped create TressFX built on an open standard, if Nvidia had the hardware to back it up, they could perform better than they do. Meanwhile PhysX is proprietary and won't work on AMD cards.
But truth be told, TressFX doesn't even make the GTX 600 series cards take that much of a hit once the patch was released, I'm more worried about future games to come that will leverage all the compute power available on GCN, starting with the consoles.Edited by tpi2007 - 10/8/13 at 3:55pm
