MSI r7970 Power Edition voltage issue

I am having issues overclocking these cards. I am using Msi afterburner software to overclock the cards. I can set the voltage on the gpu side at 1.2 volts and higher. When I run a game I have gpuid running in the background, max voltage the card will use is 1.170 volts. Seems like the max that I can get is 1000 on core up from 945 (factory speed) Wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

A voltage drop of 30mV is acceptable and normal. (Personally i wouldn't go over 1.2V for 24/7 use)

Your card would be the first that only reaches 1000Mhz that i know off, most will 1100, others 1200+ mhz.

Then again, not each card is the same. Whats the power target set at? You could try bumping that if it's still on 100%

I had power target set at +20% and couldnt hit 1070 mhz (lightning edition). I flashed to the lightning edition bios and having no problems at 1079 speed.
