I wouldn't count on an RD600 for a C2D, being that the RD600 will be a one of a kind and it's already obsolete.

You think right, the P5B Deluxe is much better. Go for that one.

is it worth $50 over the Gigabyte DS3?

Depends. I'm not familiar at all with the DS3, even though I'd like to get my sticky fingers on one of them but.....I'm an ASUS guy all the way.

But if you think you could handle the DS3, go for it as well. The DS3 is just as good as the P5B Deluxe, except the ASUS had more features which are not related to overclocking, that's why the Deluxe and Premium line are always a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for, and more IMO.

I haven't heard of the DS3 nor P5B Deluxe about being good overclocking boards?

I have seen them overclock sky-high.
