Windows 8 OEM or Windows 8 upgrade?

Thread Starter
I want to install Win8 on an extra 128 SSD I have, and also keep the Win7 install on my main 256g SSD.

If i go for the upgrade will I lose the license under win 7?

Upgrades are going for $60-$70

Or should i just get the OEM? (around $130)

Just picked up a Win 8 Pro key for $39.99 off eBay yesterday!

I'd check there first. Seller PM'd me the key within 10 hours...

I'm pretty sure you are only supposed to use the windows 7 on one install. So technically you should buy the OEM.

Nice thing about that is way easier to reinstall the Windows 8 on another machine or SSD in the future. Otherwise you have to install Windows 7 first then the Windows 8 upgrade. Kind of a pain in the...

I recently did something similar with Windows 8 and Vista. I bought the Windows 8 Pro Upgrade for 69.99 with the Student Discount. I then used the option Microsoft gives to install from a DVD disc and I used the disc to Install on a separate partition and I activated it with my CD Key.

Now I dual boot Windows 8 and Windows Vista, and I got Windows 8 Pro edition for a great discount.

Just follow these instructions
