I suppose those of us that can afford these cards should just stick our noses in the air and walk away, leaving them to pick up the used cards we sell?
I honestly can't believe people are OK with the rising prices of GPUs, and actually try to justify what these companies are doing. I find it exceptionally hard to believe that the cost to fab these GPUs is more, if anything they should cost less. The fabrication process of 28nm has matured well into the point of being a standard, yields are fine now.
I could see them trying to argue the high price point if it was a new fab down at 20nm, really pushing technology, but it isn't. It is the same architecture and fab that has been around for ~2 years, with just "more" added to it.
I get what you mean but it has nothing to do with the prices of GPUs being higher than they were. That's irrelevant.
If you are actually in the market for one and I mean actually going to buy one. Then to achieve x amount of performance your only two options are obviously the GTX 780 or GTX Titan. If you actually have the money and are trying to decide which to buy, nothing about the 290Xs performance will either shock, disappoint or upset you because you're the audience the card was intended for. You have the money, you will buy based on what will suit your needs the best and you hoping for something being cheaper than the market dictates won't deter you from buying one because you were (in the actual market that exists today, not fairly tale land where things are cheaper because you cant afford them and) going to actually buy a flagship GPU anyways.
Were talking about people complaining about $100-150 here. Not $500 like the GTX Titan, not even $300 and most certainly not thousands. So it's all just nonsense.
I'm just being realistic. Sure I'd love it to be cheaper but after what Nvidia did with the GTX 690, then the GTX Titan and now with the GTX 780 you're ignorant beyond words in you have an issue with what AMD is doing because they would be borderline retarded to release a competing product for half it's price when it'll sell equally as well for $650 and the consumer still getting a bargain. This card was never being released at $500 or even $550.
The extent at which some Americans complain about GPU pricing is ridiculous. Nvidias last flagship the GTX 680 cost $650-900AUD here. Now the GTX Titan costs $1300-1400AUD here and the GTX 780 cost $750-900AUD here and the cry babies complain about a $650US GPU from AMD that competes with the $999US GTX Titan in the cheapest GPU market in the world? Give me a break.

Will be very tough for it to overclock and scale as well as GK110 but as long as it competes with a GTX Titan at 1150-1200 when overclcoked then it'll be a hit I think.
