Im so frustrated at this point. I have one of the first gen korean 27in monitors... the chieva shimian. I did a quick google and found that the 7970 has a dvi-d and by all aaccounts they should work together. Nope. So, I tried buying another dvid cord... nah. Tried getting and active mini dp to dvid adapter. .. nope. The monitor works on all other computers in the house except for this one.

Anyone have any similar experiences? frown.gif

Neither of the DVI ports on the 7970 lightning are dual link. That may be your issue.

have you tried connecting other monitor to your 7970? If no, suggest to start by doing that...

Even a DVI Single Link should work. It will work but only with less resolution..

FYI, I have a korean Crossover 3020mdp and I tried connecting into DVI SL. it works just fine..

so could be your 7970 is not working? or faulty...

Omg... I think you're right. My card is thisone:

http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7970-Lightning.html ... says single link DVI-D.

I used to have this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130785

which is a DL-DVI ... OMG. Ugh! So annoyed!!

It doesn't seem to be working... the card works on all my other monitors except for this one. I think its because it REQUIRES a DL-DVI-D ... I guess I was wrong when I read everything over. DVI-D != DL-DVI-D ... I thought the -D was the dual link.... ***.

Does anyone know if there are any adapters that take single link DVI-D and convert to dual link DVI-D?

Yeah I thought DVI-D was the same as DL-DVI-D. So, I'm basically a complete moron.

Active DP to DVI adapter? It may or may not work, it did with my Catleap.

You can buy an adapter and covert it to DL DVI-D.
I know this cause I had one back in the day wink.gif
