Asus MAXIMUS II FORMULA P45 wont boot after "not fully" pressed RAM MODULE

Hello,
My Maximus II Formula always works great with 2x2GB DOMINATOR 1066mhz and Q9550. PSU is XFX 650W modular.

-Yesterday I bought another kit 2x2GB Dominator 1066mhz. I set everything to standard FSB and voltage UP a little the memory voltage and NB voltage( just a one step up). After that I do some ORTHOS test (few minutes) - all was OK.

-Then I POWER OFF the PC and go to install my new KIT of ram smile.gif.
-When I turn ON PC board dont boot. FANs are working, HDD too, but it doesnt BOOT UP. Only ONE led lights (The HDD diode)

It looks like one of the module I didint pressed fully so its not fit properly on board... Ehh.. So I pluged it harder and it fit correctly, but It doesnt help. So I UNPLUGGED all of the new RAM modules and my MB doesnt wake up.. I cleared CMOS may times. I Tried also with one module 1GB and its still not OK. I tried on another RAMs.. Still MB dont wake UP. The diodes are not lights!!!!!! - only HDD diode!

Well i got this too. sometimes i forget to push the ram correctly in place but after i insert it, everything is back on track. maybe you damaged your board somehow? I say you try the ram on another PC just to make sure they are not faulty. Also if possible clear CMOS one more time but have the power completely drained. To do that, remove the PSU from the main power input, then press at least two times the power button on your case, and that will deplete any renaming power left in any capacitors.

Well that worked for me. hope it helps you too mate

Dear fedrosishere, and everybody who reading that - thank you for helping me.

So what I did now is:

-Plug off the battery for a 12h (all night)
-Then I UNMOUNT the board from the case
-I checked all of the capacitor and all of that things like transistors etc.
-I reset CMOS with your way smile.gif
-It didint help so I tried my RAM modules on my Brother's PC - it works :-( ;-(, so this is 100% not the ram problem.
-So I even unmount the CPU from the board...

And the symptoms are the same. Only HDD LED and FUNs are working. . I took photo for you guys:

I need help... I dont have that money to buy a new one, in my country Maximus II costs the same like Maximus V etc.. And I spend my all money to new RAM KIT. So what do you suggest?? I have soldering so I do some things if you said it will be required..

I am starting to think its the motherboard. Because if the ram works, that means the only part that could have been damaged in any way at that time is the motherboard.

Just out of curiosity. What GPU do you use? have you checked if it is not connected correctly? maybe the mobo is ok but for not being able to see anything, maybe your Gpu is not connected or something?

By just inserting a ram stick the wrong way, that shouldn't be able to damaged your mobo as i happen to get it too.(two times until now tongue.gif)

Please check the GPU too and if it all fails then i am sorry but it has to be the mobo. frown.gif

Well,
My GPU is Matrix GTX 285.
I tried already on Geforce 6200 ( a test card ), Radeon 4850 and my old 8800gts 320.
The MB dont wake UP, means the "speaker even dont beep" and LEDs are not lights.
Ussualy when I turn ON my PC every single LED on MB lights like a doing POST TEST, It was a 1s before the speaker beep and monitor turn ON.

I just cant belive it happened, I will kill myself, do commit suicide. One small mistake? A 1mm not fit properly ram module and my most important part of my house just gone away to land of darkness... This is ROG Board, it cant be possible!

I still have some hopes that someone on the forum have a solution to make this board starts properly..
Please people, help me..

As I said before. By just inserting the ram wrong , it should notccause any damage at all. Did you remove the mobo to insert the ram? If yes then you damaged it in a way.

Sounds like you shorted your board some how, If there no way to enter Bios , and you turn back to original config , with no luck it doesn't look good. Have you tried to force second bios chip?

If i may, where are you from? maybe i can find you a good mobo to replace your current one.

When Instaling new RAM KIT, I didint remove MB. I just insert the modules and thats all. MB doesnt BEEP (speaker) and LEDs dont lights (a POST test).
I triend everything. Different RAMS/slots/GPUs/ even without any CPU. I tried also to connect board to Different PSU.
CMOS reset may times. Battery unpluged for 12h.

3 years ago when I bought this motherboard(used store), the second BIOS was already damaged by previous owner, so I use only the FIRST. But It dont bother me to set q9550 E0 @ 4.2Ghz stable all day all night smile.gif It was always a risk to overclock when I had only one BIOS, but as you see the ASUS MAXIMUS II FORMULA died after a funny RAM replacement story ^^.... frown.gif

Thanks, but I thinking of new MotherBoard will be only if I sell my brand new memory kit and ofc wait a couple of weeks when free money just "appear". What a paradox!

Well thats a life!

Meanwhile somebody have a magic trick to WAKE UP my ROG beauty??
