Shoulda done powerline networking sooner

Powerline has solved all my issues and it is way easier than running cat 5e in my house. Wireless at the far ends of the house has always been iffy due to walls, thickness etc. Video would be choppy over wireless but powerline too care of the issues. I am using 2 different pairs - DLINK and Zyxel. Right now just using 3 our of the 4. Got both pairs on sale for under $30. I get my full speed on those computers attached to powerline - 20-25 down and 25-30 up.

i just did this as well, picked up two of those zyxel adapters and it works well for a connection that doesnt drop me while gaming but the download speeds are painfully slow and im still having to plug in my previous network adapter to get acceptable d/l speeds.

my modem and router are 2 floors down from where my setup is.

deffinitley a good buy.

@OP
are your adapters plugged into the same breaker as your modem/router? mine are not which could be the reason for my slow speeds but im not sure.

Definitely not the same breaker yet it does not seem to be affecting d/l speeds. But the real reason i did it was for better network speeds w/o having to run cat 5

One thing to try to improve speeds is to make sure both devices are plugged directly into sockets and not sharing an extension lead.
Generally they should work fine on the same "ring main" being fed through the same consumer box. Houses with extensions and secondary consumer boxes could have no connection or degraded performance, it is possible for the signal to leak (through ground I think) between properties and neigbours in semi detatched or terraced houses etc sometimes being able to pick up a connection on an open unsecured homeplug network.
