i5 4670k vs AMD 8350

Thread Starter
i know you guys already got this question a TON of times but i am about to order one of these but i dont know which one to get frown.gif so what is your opinion (both are in the budget) i am leaning more towards the amd because watch dogs recommended a 8 core cpu :0,and is battlefield 4 running better on amd ATM? which is better overall? i know intel is alot faster on single threaded apps can you name some? thanks

well, according to the image below, the i5-2500k has a higher average than the fx8350. It's basically the same between the two though. an i5-4670k would increase the lead even more.

Don't let the new consoles sway your decision to hard either. Console games only have access to 5 threads. Intel's 4 behemoth cores are WAY more than enough to power through that.

I'd suggest going for a i7 though for the extra threads just in case. Just got two i7 3770k's this year myself smile.gif

They are essentially the same though if you're just trying to hit 60fps....so I guess I'd actually give the 8350 the nod (unless power usage is of a concern)

I'd also look into other technologies Intel has such as SRT for SSD caching smile.gif Big plus for me

Tomshardware has bf4 benches up. The 8350 is hard to beat for the money. There is also no proof that ps4/xb1 won't have access to all 8 cores for gaming. Yes, some cores will be burdened with working with the OS and background tasks, well your PC does that too. rolleyes.gif
With all console games on 8 weak cores, highly multithreaded games will quickly become the norm rather than a rarity.

There aren't that many single threaded apps that matter at all anymore, and they grow fewer by the day. Things that you have to wait a long time for, (minutes or hours), have been multithreaded for a while.
