Question about 1GB / 2GB sticks

Thread Starter
It looks like newegg is out of stock on the 2x1GB G.Skill memory that I want, so I was wondering, is it okay if I just buy two 1GB sticks (separately)?

I'd think that should be okay, but just checking, like if dual channel mode or whatever would work if I do it this way.

Thanks
-EJ

It should be ok, you can probably still run them in dual-channel but its not guaranteed. It will also cost you more too since single 1GB sticks are usually a big more expensive.

Cool, thanks for your help! Since it's not guaranteed that it'll run in dual channel properly I think I'll just find a 2GB kit

Yeah, one reason it is not guaranteed is that the same named memory from the same company might actually be different revisions. The company might switch the chips they use but call it the same thing. A recent example was the Corsair Dominator series.
