Rather than spend on better cooling...

Wouldn't it make more sense to just buy a better cpu? Just wondering...

On your system? No, a video card would be more of a benefit in gaming. Just overclock your processor and it will be able to handle anything up to a 8800GTS easily. A 8800GTS will provide 500-600% more performance than your current card.

I also noticed you have only 1GB RAM. 2GB will also help performance in many recent games.
Once again...

I will agree with Duckie here.

The 8800GTX is capable of producing higher FPS than SLI 7900GTX (which is greater than quad SLI 7950GX2).

The GTS is only slightly less powerful than the GTX but still pulls major performance in games. It is also nice to have for the next lineup of DX10 games soon to be released because it will easily handle them.

Also if you buy your card from EVGA you can tradeup within 90 days (you pay the market value difference) to another card such as the 8800GTX or a newer NVidia based GPU at the time.

1) More RAM
2) GPU
3) Cooling

In order, IMO.

Appreciate the responses. Will say that the graphics card you speak of is way out of my price range!! At $500.00 it would cost almost more than the rest of my machine... Will get another gig of ram first, and see what difference it makes.

I also want to say that my 7600gt is probably OK for most of what I do... but the fan is very noisy, and as the machine is used in my recording studio, I am very interested in replacing the fan on the video card, to a more quiet one. If it cools it enough to enable me to overclock the card a little, that would be a great perc to. Any suggestions?
