1155 Build for Sim City - possibly BF3 down the road ~200?

Thread Starter
My brother-in-law is huge into Sim City, but his computer is circa 2002. I have a 1155 mobo laying around, a case, a 380 Earthwatts PSU with a Celeron 650 and 7200 HDD.

Was hoping to pick up a GPU and CPU that would play Sim City fine, and possibly down the road (through my double games/humble bundle deals) other games that I can play with him. I know the PSU is a bit light, but when I picked it up originally I didn't plan on using a discrete GPU.

Any suggestions for a CPU/GPU ~200 that would max out his potential to play @ (I'm assuming here 1024 max)?

this should help you narrow down your choice. these are pound prices but Im guess in the US the price should be roughly the same but in dollars!

the i5 3750k for example will definitely play BF3 I played with a 3740. And you have room for OC.
check some reviews of CPUs in that price range too!

get a

MSI R7790-1GD5/OC Radeon HD 7790 1GB 128-bit GDDR5

and a

Intel Core i3-3220

which brings us to a total of approx $210~$215

Hope that helped thumb.gif
