Buying a USED monitor, What do I check for?

Hello, I'm buying a USED monitor on craigs, are there any programs that will test the monitor for any non-working features?

I will be buying a Dell U3008 2560x1600 IPS. I was just going to put on a black and white screen to see if there were any dead pixels, any other tricks any of you know to show defects in a monitor?

If it's anything like the 3007 then it will have a test run with it's turned on but no signal to cycle through the colors.

My main concern would be delamination. Which is kind of hard to test for when buying because you need to let the screen warm up to notice it. Mine has that and it's hard to tell because it's only noticeable on certain colors after being used for a few hours.

Just cycle through solid colors and inspect for dead/stuck pixels, namely red blue and green but more is good.

Personally, after owning a large CCFL monitor, I wouldn't ever suggest buying one again. They put off a lot of heat and become less accurate as they age.

How do I go on about checking how accurate the colors are? I can ask to keep the monitor on but no guarantees. Delamination? Do explain =D Also, is there a feature on the Dell monitors to cycle through colors or do I manually have to go to a website and have it display colors on full screen?
