Router Chokes/Spikes Ingame

Hi, everyone. I've noticed lately while playing FPS games that the ping between me and my router seems to spike drastically, especially in situations with a lot going on. I've tried multiple computers, routers, ethernet cables, etc, but nothing seems to correct the issue.

Components tried

Routers

D-Link DIR-615 (DD-WRT v24-sp2)
D-Link DIR-655 (Stock firmware)
SmartRG SR505N Modem/Router (Stock firmware)

Ethernet Cables

CAT.5
CAT.5e

MTRs

Also, if I have the router ping the modem I don't see any spiking. I'm at a loss as to what the problem is, and I'm starting to lose some sleep over this wink.gif.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Andrew

Is it wireless? If so, ping spikes are completely normal.
If not, try connecting straight to the modem.

Hi again, I found the issue was the windows network stack limiting the amount of non multimedia packets.
