OCZ RevoDrive 3 X2 series 240gb or Samsung 840 PRO 256gb - Page 2

Thread Starter
Ah, I thought it supported trimm - sadly win7 doesn't work with ocz's solution there.
There's so many reports of failure with these revodrives - in under 1 year, and with that small warranty... ehh no thanks.
Im glad I didn't jump on it, would suck to reinstall my os every few months/rma the drive... or lose it, after 6 months when the small refurb warranty expires.

As I plan to use this as the os/programs/games ssd, I'll be going with the 840 PRO, better warranty, support, warranty, TRIMM... !

Thanks everyone for the help!

I will be just adding more and more Samsungs to a raid.

I watched last night a Chinese friend install an Areca (ARC) 1882IX Pro Raid Controller (PCIe), connect 8 Samsung 840 Pro SSDs and get 4.5Gb/s. Yes 4.5.

The raid controller cost him about €560. (Plus extra RAM upgrade 4Gb €150).

So the point is, even by buying Sata SSD now we can still overcome the Sata III bottlenecks of 1.5Gb/s and actually have a future proof strategy as well as gaining the benefits of PCIe.
