Thanks everyone for your replies, i'm really surprised to see how many people had bad experiences with Performance-Pcs.com. It's sad to see they treat all of their customers the same way...
I understand why you are upset but people need to realize that a reseller is NOT going to cover a product past their return period. That is it. Typically that is 30 days. So if you think you have a problem with the product in the first 30 days return that product, no matter what. If it was abnormally loud and you were worried about it you needed to get it taken care of right away, not run it for a year and half.
Read my post again, i contacted them in the first 30 days and asked for a RMA due to the loud noise (i still have a copy of the mails). They never allowed it.
Also it's their responsability to mention that the products they are selling already have the manufacturer's warranty voided.
It does not matter if you've got to change the housing to use it with a reservoir or not, it doesn't matter if every person that buys that pump uses it in the same way. Not much you can do other than never buy another Swiftech product again.
I'm a watercooling newbie. This was my first watercooled computer and i've came here to ask for help to build it in 2012. It's you guys who suggested me to buy those pieces, i didn't even know if it was modified or not. Actually, i was assuming that the pump/reservoir combo was sold "as it" by the manufacturer. I realised only later that the resellers were modifying the pump to fit it with the reservoir. And i'm pretty sure the vast majority of the people who buy a pump/reservoir combo aren't aware that it is voiding their warranty.
How could the warranty be voided for dis-assembly of the pump when there is absolutely no way they would know you even did it?
Swiftech asked for my invoice from Performance-Pcs.com and they saw that i bought the pump with an XSPC kit.
Also, the pump came already disassembled out-of-the-box. It didn't even include the standard housing. A newbie like me wouldn't even realise that the pump was modified after coming out of the production facility.
I also don't understand why using a pump/reservoir combo voids the warranty. Is it a common pratice in the WC industry ? Does other brands also void the pump warranty if you change the housing to fit it with a reservoir ?
Simple facts are every online retailer has to set limits and with Performance-PCs an RMA has to be within the first 30 days period, if outside the 30 days your RMA comes from the product manufacturer.
Right, but like i said i asked for a RMA during the first 30 days. Actually i contacted them a few days after receiving my order, right after i finished bleeding the loop to be sure it wasn't causing the noise.
Regarding Swiftech, I just finished inspecting a brand new MCP655, looking for this sticker mentioned regarding disassembling the pump and found nothing relating to that, and nothing inside the box or on the product warranty.
Another reason why Swiftech should honor my warranty...
There's always two sides to every story, and the truth that actual invoices of dates and claims proves, IMO, Performance-PCs and Swiftech are both companies that can be trusted.
Well i don't know what is that "other side of story" in my case... And after reading tons of stories about bad customer service, lying, selling used products, refusing to honor warranty, it makes me wonder how this company can be trusted !
