Why the hell can't I seem to get into Demon's Souls? - Page 2

You have to have a very specific mindset for demon's souls. it took me literally 8 hours to get past the 1-1/1-2 areas. I played thief, and I used a bow, and I had a buttfluffload of dexterity, and I glitched like a boss. The reason the game was so fun for me is because I thrive on a sense of accomplishment and duty.

In my mind, I was Dante. I had to complete these trials to save my wife, or earn redemption. it wasn't strictly about having fun for me. It was more about accomplishing a task. Like heracles or thor and their trials. if you are able to get past the frustration and aggravation, this game is an experience. It's shadow of the colossus level epic.

And once you have died your thousand times, and you've literally RUN AWAY in FEAR a few dozen times, and you've successfully beaten all the areas, and you com back around you'll notice the game isn't even hard. In all honesty it's easier than borderlands 2 solo. the "difficulty" is simply you not understanding the mechanics. Eventually you will know what enemies react in what fashion. the last time I played it i went through 1-1 all the way to 3-1 without even leveling up.

Wrong thought process : "ugh this damn guy keeps knocking me off the cliff with his aoe attack"
Right way to think :"its one of those guys I better hit him with an arrow to lure him over here so I can backtab him or shove him off the cliff"

The whole point is being as unfair to the enemies as possible. if you're fighting a 3 story tall suit of armor, would you really run up to him with a sword? I wouldn't. Thats why I use bows. There are some really deep roleplay elements in the fact that the game really starts to shine when you adjust everything you can to start taking advantage of the enemies. "That thing has a sword the size of a school bus!? *looks at sword the size of a sword* screw that I'm getting 2 friends and some bombs FTS"

It's not borderlands 2, it's not cod, it's not skyrim. It's a chance to be a hero fighting deadly monsters. Your chance to be Perseus, or Saint George. Beowulf. Merlin. Your name will be told in tales until it's lost to time. You gotta be sort of a romantic I guess. Or, you have to want to be a legend.

Beat this game and you'll quite literally have a different perspective on adversity. All you need to remember is that you are a HUMAN fighting MONSTERS. Any sane man would approach a bear cautiously, what would he do against a 12 foot tall animate skeleton using an impossibly gigantic sword

I did. I ran right up to him. I loved fighting the bosses up close and personal. It fit my style of play and for the most part demon souls let me enjoy this with success.
