I wear mine as a Watch and people love the damn thing, and they will always ask me what it is or ask me where I got it.

These "Smart Watches" are a major step back. Apple nailed it with that thing, bet they screw it up... BET!

The Nano is a nice little computer and I am sure it could do alot more if they wanted it to. It holds its onw just fine.

I think Apple knows that version of the nano is a solid concept / start. I bet the interface is at least somewhat similar. Form factor is easy. It's the software and integration that makes people question the utility of a smart watch. It's gotta solve a problem or introduce something we don't know we need yet.

Galaxy gear has been categorized as an internet troll making the "First!" post and as a "human interface train wreck." Both things Samsung excels at. If any company is going to mainstream smartwatches, we all know it's going to be Apple.

Samsung doesn't get the first honor anyways. As usual Microsoft had smartwatches 10 years ago with email, alerts, and IM service. Worked on FM radio channels though. Usual Microsoft problem of being utterly brilliant making it work and introducing a concept and then...just..leaving it and moving on to the next brilliant but poorly executed idea and horrific marketing.

I've seen all the smartwatches coming out and none of them are appealing to me (its a style issue as I generally look like I stepped out of a J.Crew catalog). I am a self proclaimed gadget whore but this will be skipped unless a great watch company comes in and makes one that still looks like a dress watch. But that's just me.
