did you get the normal 7970 or the ghz edition card btw? ghz ed card can draw more power and has more power phases i believe (dont quote me on that second part though)

Sorry to highjack the thread but does anyone here know if I can run a 7950 with a 280X in crossfire?

Hey guys, i've being looking at the 280x's from the same site, what is so good about the matrix? And is the direct cuII v1 or v2 better? (New asus 780 fan vs traditional 3 slot fan)

OP id buy the ASUS 280x CUii TOP card. Taken from HARDOCP review:
Quote:
ASUS is only commanding a $10 price premium on the ASUS R9 280X DC2T. For that extra $10 you get a slight core clock frequency boost, a more impressive memory clock boost, and custom high-end components. ASUS has outfitted this video card with its DIGI+ VRMs for cleaner voltage, more voltage, and more power delivery. The 8x2 phase setup is superior to the reference 6x2 phase configuration on R9 280X. The lifespan and efficiency of the R9 280X is improved on the ASUS version. The fan is customized and does deliver on its promises. We have the option to raise voltage to 1.4v on this card, well over the default of 1.2v, giving us immense freedom to overclock, hopefully.

It sounds like such a decent card for the money.

Wouldnt have thought so, since a 280X is a rebranded 7970.

I think the Matrix cards are meant to be binned better.

HIS IceQ X² non Ghz, I've heard of people flashing to the Ghz edition though.

ASUS 280x CUii versus ASUS 280x CUii V2? $10 more, but what's the difference?

edit: sad to see that the Vapor-X performs so poorly in reviews. I had a soft spot for them but now when it's competitively priced, I find out that it's not a good option.

Oh yeah, that explains why it looks fatter.

Summer is coming so pushing my poor old 6850 to 1GHz won't be the best idea. So tempted to go for the $410 Asus, but prices will inevitably drop over the next 2 months and I don't really plan on buying BF4 yet.
