R9 280X/270X or 7950/7970

Thread Starter
The R9 280X and 270X are now available here in Australia and I'm looking to upgrade. At the moment I'm not convinced about going for the new cards as I know they're a rebadge. I'm trying to go for maximum price to performance, 7950's are available from $269 and the 270X starts at $275, 280X starts at $389.

Is it the general opinion that you should go for the outgoing 7950's 7970's before they go considering they're relatively inexpensive? I mean the 270X has 1GB less Vram, is slower and more expensive than the 7950. The reason im not interested in nvidia is because they're overpriced here (cheapest 770 is $499 rolleyes.gif).

So i guess the question is should i pull the trigger on the 7950?

In my opinion with those prices I would be sticking with the 7950/70 but here in UK the 280x is £249 whereas the 7970 is £235 so even though it is rebadged but with higher clocks I would be going the 280x.
