Asus P8Z68-V Gen3 to P8Z77-V Pro without reinstalling Win7?

Thread Starter
My motherboard died on me a few weeks ago, I have been slow to get around to fixing it, but I finally picked up a new MB and got the closest thing I could to what I had. I had a P8Z68-V Gen3 and the new board is a P8Z77-V Pro. For more reasons than I care to express, I don't want to do a fresh install of Win7. I do have a backup img that is from about a month before the computer died that I could use, but there is nothing wrong with the HDD.

Every time I've ever swapped MBs (even with the exact same model), Windows has given me a fit and refused to work properly. My question is, is there some way I can swap to the new MB without reinstalling the OS? I don't care to get a new product key (I actually think I have a few spare copies of Win7 Pro laying around), I just don't want to have to reinstall everything. Anyway, is there anyway I can make this work?

Doubtful that you won't have to re-install Windows since it is a different chipset on the new motherboard and probably has different ways of handling things than your old board. There may be ways for it to just work but I could see the different drivers for the different chipsets and features conflicting.
