What I meant was it is easy to download programs that "ride along" with others, then hog system resources. Look for unknown listings in program file.
Malwarebytes free is easy to download, run, and sometimes finds malware other programs miss. Kaspersky has a very good reputation, we use it in work.
. Occasional Malwarebyts scan (on home computers) is a good idea, I've never found it to interfere with other programs.
I have "helped" several people by running malwarebytes even though they had "good" antivirus programs (last one had Norton).
