Its not standard fuses they have on the boards, but surface mount fuses. Most laptop boards have at least a couple of surface mount fuses on them.

It was weird when it happened. I was revising for my exams and my laptop was charging perfectly fine at school and suddenly it just stopped and turn off and wouldn't turn back on.
im getting that charger today hopefully to see if that works.
I've also ordered a replacement dc jack as well just in case.

How would you check the board with a multimeter?
Buying a new cpu will be my last resort. I'm dubious about the dc jack being the culprit here because when I wiggle the charger it won't display any light at all.

My nephew has the same battery as mine I think. I might borrow his and see if it works.

At some points in this, I've almost been tempted to hahaha

A dead cpu wouldn't not let the computer turn on. It just wouldn't post correctly. Sounds like a power delivery issue to me.

Yep. Took the laptop apart again and I realised the DC jack wasnt installed the whole way in. I presumed it was as it was at a very tight angle and it couldn't get any further.. I was wondering why everything seemed okay.

Anyway yep everything is working fine now smile.gif

Thank you guys for your suggestions and help, much appreciated
