I still recommend an AMD GPU unless you really want the 760 for some reason...
The new 280x will outperform the 760 for sure and you really only loose 1gb Vram but that is plenty for solid 1080p gaming!
You stated that you want to run BF4 which will be one of the games using the new AMD Mantle API. This will give you a significant performance increase in games that use it over the Nvidia counterpart.
Released this week
Advantages of Mantle
1 Up to 9 times more draw calls per second than comparable APIs by reducing CPU overhead.
2 More fine control over the hardware
3 All hardware capabilities are exposed through the API.
4 New rendering techniques possible.
5 Direct GPU Memory access.
6 Prevents CPU bottlenecks.
7 Multithreaded parallel CPU rendering support for at least 8 cores.
8 No game developer reliance on existing AMD driver support release schedules. (potentially no or less bugs on release, much faster patching for GFX related errors)
9 Due to bypassing of error-prone and inefficient abstraction, common technical difficulties like FPS drops, micro stuttering and texture corruption may be significantly less frequent or nonexistant.
So if you are worried about CPU bottleneck then this would be a decent route until you could upgrade the CPU at which point its just extra free performance!
Right now the BF4 beta at Ultra 4xAA is running at 1440p near 2.8Gb vram usage. This is still beta so expect this only to get better. That being said your monitor that you chose is 1080p so 3gb will be plenty.Edited by selk22 - 10/10/13 at 11:31pm
