Lapping addiction? gpu hs lapping question

Since i lapped my 8320 and stock hs(a day ago) and been wowed by the results it seems like i have a tendency to lap anything that comes in contact with a heatsource ie gpu hs, chipset hs, vrm hs, etc

It came out like this after 5 hours of grinding, cpu and hs:

My question is regarding the gpu hs base in the pic below, as shiny as a silica gpu is the base looks rather jagged. How much would it benefit from a lapping job and a better tim?

PS: this is the contact between the two:

excuse my ****ty grammar as i am not native english frown.gif

Great job lapping the CPU, looks like you did a really good job! I love lapping stuff. Makes me feel like its performing at its absolute best.

The only concern I have for that GPU cooler is how will you keep it flat? Even just a little bit of 2000 grit sand paper will be enough to create an uneven surface if you have any complications lapping. If you can successfully lap the cooler without beveling the edges of the cooler or making it uneven, go for it. Also, looks to be like some ceramique paste of some sort. I'd go get some MX2 or MX4. I prefer MX2, its speads great and I've always had good temps. I drops 4C going from ceramique to mx2.

Thanks, 5 hours and a back pain but worth it smile.gif)

My little theory is that if i get the base sloped(even but grinded more to a side) the way i screw the heatsink will put the surfaces in perfect contact. Some screws will be tighter than others.
I was thinking some prolimatek pk2/3

Kinda like this:
