Flash 7970 to R9 280x bios? - Page 13

I also have a Powercolor HD7970, recently I flashed the bios of OC Edition and it worked like a charm. Seeing now I can also turn it in to an R9 280X, anyone knows which BIOS I can exactly use?

I'm checking the bios files from Powercolor R9 280X TurboDuo, maybe that's fine?

I've always heard that you need to look for the bios from the same company, same build... ie giga windforce 7950 OC= giga windforce R9 280 OC That worked for me anyway.

You are a god. Worked for all 3 of my cards.

Has anyone had any success flashing the ASUS Direct CU II 7970 to a 280x bios? If so, which bios did you use?

Hi Guys!

Thank you for all the Information in this thread!

I have two VTX3D 7970 X-Edition (PCB R19FA like Powercolor and Club3D Cards i think).

They came with this BIOS:
http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/150315/vtx3d-hd7970-3072-121125.html

After asking Google I found out that the VTX3D R9-280X has the same PCB (R19FA)

I thought lets try this BIOS:
http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/150601/vtx3d-r9280x-3072-130916.html

Flashed it and viola, all is perfectly stable. Maybe this will help someone with the same card or maybe Powercolor or Club3D owners.

I was hoping someone else would jump in on this... I've done a few gigabyte cards.... but never a xfx... I just went to the manufactures website... downloaded the bios for the equivalent card in the 280x variety and flashed away... seems to worked ok. so far for me... but beware of clock/mem speeds...

- Modified 280X Memory Timings -

- Exchanged PowerPlayInfo Table -
This BIOS don't need the Overclocking Range Enhancment or the Unofficial Overclocking in AB.
OC up to 2000/9999 MHz 1.4/1.75V.
No Boost Powerstate.

- Exchanged VoltageObjectInfo/VRAM_GPIO_DetectionInfo Table -
2D voltage is now 800mV, instead of 850mV.
I changed the voltage for the UVD Powerstate (501/1500 MHz) to 900mV.
The Memory Controller needs it, at least at full load for 501/1500-1700 MHz.

I also moved the UEFI GOP to the right offset and it's now activated.
My P67 Mainboard don't have a UEFI BIOS, so I couldn't test it.

Hi People!

My MSI HD7970 TFIII OC:
http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/137873/msi-hd7970-3072-130319.html

Works fine with this BIOS from the MSI R9 280X Gaming:
http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/146769/msi-r9280x-3072-131009.html

It uses the same Memory and it works just fine.
