Finding a hard mouse pad for my Deathadder Black

Hi guys.

I have a Deathadder Black and now it works fine with the Goliathus Speed, but I'm thinking of trying a hard mat to see the difference. I used to stick with cloth pad, QcK Heavy and other XXL sized mouse pad to be more specific, because I was a really low sensitivity FPS gamer. Then I tried high sensitivity and feel like a boss, so hard pad is available for me now.

Fortunately, some local gaming gears store here still have a bunch of old hard mouse mats, like Razer Scarab and Razer Scarab BF3, as well as new ones, like Manticor and Destructor 2. So the question is: which one should I buy. Scarab, Scarab BF3, Manticor or Destructor 2 ?

Let me make it more clear:

- Razer Scarab: I love the color, and maybe I can assume that this light blue surface will reduce LOD of my DA to a comfortable level, can't I ? However, I heard that the Scarab's carrying case is not so good and it bends the mat and make it inflated, especially in the center. And the build quality, will it wear off in a month or so?
- Razer BF3: in fact I think I will not choose this one, cause I love simplicity.
- Manticor: I thought aluminum is more expensive than plastic and therefore will worth more, but then I realized that its coating is the only thing that makes sense here. If it peel away, the pad will be useless. Then I'd love to know how long will this coating last.
- Destructor 2: Same as Scarab, but I wonder how the dark color will affect the LOD.

I hope someone here can shed some light and help me choose the best tracking pad for my DA BE.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the Scarab won't affect the LOD. The Destructor 2 might reduce it some, but I'm not sure. A black mouse pad will lower the LOD, and a red will increase it from what I've read. I have a Manticor and the LOD on my 2013 is lower than it was with the Scarab. I had all the mouse pads you listed minus Destructor2 (I had the first one) and I honestly liked all of them. Currently using the Manticor, it has a very unique feel, more friction than the other hard pads.

Thank you. In fact I tested myself and found that white surface (a sheet of A4 paper) reduced my DA's LOD to an extremely low level (stop tracking at 1 CD), while a black surface (QcK Heavy and Goliathus Speed edition) somehow produced a horribly high LOD (still tracking at 3 CDs, OMG, fixed with tape trick). So I assume that the light color surface of Scarab should be good, however, u said that Manticor lowered LOD, and nothing beats experience, then maybe I missed something biggrin.gif Probably, mouse pad these days have some unique technologies to reduce LOD wink.gif

I think red is the only surface that will increase LOD. Everything else other than black should be the designed LOD. I remember reading this when i was researching some Zowie mice, I think that's how optical sensors work. The Manticor surface is solid black so I barely need to lift my DA to get it to stop tracking, whereas on my Scarab it was around 1mm higher lift off.

I have a Ratpadz Hard Mouse Surface. I love it. Check them out HERE.

sharkoon tough mat
steelseries h9d
razer destructor 2
qpad heaton (in XL its the biggest hardpad available)

all these are more or less the same, at least very similar, and all recommendable

Thank you guys. I think I will take the Destructor 2, because something like qpad heaton, sharkoon, ratpadz ... is really hard to find here. And I prefer smooth feeling, so Manticor is not the ideal choice for me.
