Also, they don't even make 2TB WD Blues and haven't made 2TB Caviar Blues (name changed, they dropped caviar) in the past. The current WD blue's only go up to 1TB and have a 2yr warranty, not sure where you got a 5 yr warranty for them. The blacks and raptors have 5yr warranties. And the current blacks are slower than the current Blue and Seagate 7200.14 drives.
Read up on current info...
First, I personally never stated anything about the warranty except that WD took care of my Raptor with haste. Nothing else.
Second, the fact that 2TB Blues are no longer being made has already been noted and corrected; if you cared to read the entire thread before getting your panties in a bunch.
Third, I am aware of the name change, I simple use it 1. Out of Habit & 2. To help differentiate between the "Caviar" and the Scorpio. It wouldn't be the first time that someone bought a mobile HDD by accident for a desktop.
Forth, I have heard that current Blues are faster than Blacks but have yet to see any proof of this, so as of now its not much more than hearsay to me.
Fifth and final, it is fairly well documented and I have experienced it for myself that the Barracudas run hotter, louder and have a lower QC than the WD variant.
Now that being said, I again repeat that this does not make the Barracuda a bad drive or even a poor HDD. It is a very good drive infact. I just believe that the WD equivalent is a little better overall and to me, is worth the extra money.Edited by FatedFrenzy - 10/15/13 at 8:33am
