H80i and AMD 8350 Temps!

Thread Starter
Ok so I'm a bit new to the world of liquid coolers, I recently bought a corsair H80i for my 8350. I'm not planning on overclocking, just want to keep it nice and cool. Anyways I have 2X 200mm fans as exhaust on top, the h80i as intake in the rear, side panel fans as intake, front fan as intake on my Fulltower Phantom case. I've noticed that my cpu temps on idle are around 40-45c and under load it reaches as high as 55-57c, this isnt normal right? Or am I expecting too much from this cooler? Some help would be nice smile.gif

**Also on a side note I removed the stock TIM that came with the cooler and applied some artic silver 5 using the pea method on the cpu.

Sounds normal to me. 55-57C is fine considering the 8350 runts hot, and the H80i is a small AIO cooler. You can get lower temps with a custom loop or a 2x120 or 2x140 cooler, but I think you're fine where you're at.

What does your coolant temp stabilize at after load for 10-15 minutes in CorsairLink2?

I was just gonna ask what his load temps were. My H60 idles at about 40*c on my X6 1090t. and under load goes up to about 57*c. I think I need to clean it though LOL

Ok so this would be normal then. My load temps stay around 55-57c and the coolant stabilizes at 37c.

Think you are good to go then bro. thumb.gif

If there's anything I would have done differently -- is to use the "spread" method on that AS5 instead of the pea method. The pea method never worked well for me with AS5 due to the high viscosity of the paste. If you ever pull the thing off and look at it, I'd be curious to know how far and well it spread out.

H100i my 8350 OC'd to 4.4 idles at 36C with a room temp of 26.7C. Under load I Hit 47C. And uder load with Prime running I hit 50C.

I guess the 100 performs really well biggrin.gif

Yea I was actually thinking about making the switch to the h100i but I lost the mounting brackets that came with my case. All in all I think I can live with my current temps, I also have to take into account my room isn't the coldest in the house especially down here in south Florida.

In regards to the pea method, yea I took it off over the weekend and reapplied using the spread method, It didn't cover all the way with the pea method, but my temps are still the same.

Hey guys just wanted to post an update, I opted to get the h100i anyways, and I do have better performance now. My rig now idles at 34-40c and at 45-48c on max load. So with that I can safely say I'm happy.biggrin.gif

your temps with the h80i were not right unless you live in a hot country? my temps idle with my h80i and my 8350 are always 30-31c and max gaming 46c. in the summer the idle temps go up to 33c but the max gaming temps stay the same.
