What they had forgotten was that the industry had helped put the laws in place to begin with over public anger. Advertising viewership nosedived in the young, and now the ad industry is in trouble.
As the saying goes you can fool all of the people some of the time, or some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
Best not to bother trying to fool them at all.
That trend is much less common in games these days. But this thread reminded me, I recently finished the hardest game I've ever played: the unofficial Icewind Dale remake mod for Neverwinter Nights 2. I've been gaming since the 90s, and man this was something else.
