I've seen pci-e lanes broken by people leaving a heavy gpu in a computer and shipping it or moving it. The pci-e slot will wiggle in the board when it gets loose, and actually snap off the board when it breaks. I've seen wiggling slots work for years with no ill effects when the weight of the card is supported after it starts to get loose like that. so it is a fixable issue. i've also seen loose slots like that only work intermittently... so you have to catch it before it damages the slot.

Yes actually. The only damage I've heard of is such sag that the pcb was being shorted by either the backplate or cooler, and it was fixed by jacking it up. I guess if you had bad enough sag it could bend the pcb enough where the chip is to break the solder balls.

When fixing sag though, you want to fix it in incriments, as if it's baddly stressed one way, and you fix it, you'll be badly stressing it the other way until it bands back into shape.

The card itself isnt bent anywhere near that, if at all. It just hangs a bit is all. If the postal service would get their asses moving, I would have it safe and secure in a flat mounted motherboard tray, lol. Knowing my luck it'll be fine up until I get the damn case and suddenly the damn thing will snap off.

Also, just so I'm clear the pcb is the actual circuit board, isnt it?

Yes,

I use plastic card keepers i got out of some rack mount machines to keep mine stable. They are pretty long and easy to notch so they wont slip.
A lot of people simply use a zip tie to secure the rear corner of the card or even the power plugs to a spot on the case up around the cd trays to hold it in place. Looks ghetto but very effective.
