7970 or 280x you can't go wrong with either because they are basically the same thing. I say 280x just because it is newer and there about the same price.
Also to save money a 7950 will work well i just got one and i am very happy with it. It's about $100 cheaper than the 280x,7970.

7970's are 200$? That's news to me. 7970 goes for 300$ on Newegg. You talk like getting them at 200$ is something common.

Yep, my bad. 300$ for a rebranded 7970GHZ. That's quite a bit faster than 7950. It's also a rule of thumb to always take the more powerful single card over the dual ones when you're looking to for a new solution.

Personal opinion...Both of my XFX 6850's with dual fans have performed flawlessly for quite some time.

Not personal opinion, and note I said 7900's series. Those have no vrm cooling and are known for coil wine. I said nothing about the 6000 series XFX cards thumb.gif

Yep. XFX 7950 is known to be ~the worst custom 7950...

Get the 7950 or 7970, 7950 is pretty awesome for its price...Plays even some of the heaviest games maxed @1080p @60fps no problems.
