CPU VID AND VCORE PLZ HELP

Hello guys I would like to know the difference between the v core and the vid cause I am thinking I will degrade my chip
I have an i5 2500k @ stock and the max vcore I have ever seen is 1.224V and the vid was at 1.236V
after I updated to the latest bios for my mb the max vcore went to 1.296 and the Vid to 1.411
Now im using -0.072V offset so as to get 1.224 but the vid is still 1.411 why?

Vid is the stock vcore of the chip. In simple terms, "vid" refers to the vcore needed to run the chip at stock settings. On the other hand, vcore is the current voltage of the chip.

The general rule is, the lower the vid the better the chip is at overclocking because it only needs a low vcore to run at stock; hence, higher voltage headroom for overclocking.

I've never encountered a scenario where the vid increases/decreases after a bios update. If you want to verify your vid, you can check coretemp. I doubt that a simple bios update will complete change your chip's built in settings.

ok but when I used to run it at 4.5Ghz @ 1.3 volts the vid still was 1.411 at max load how can you explain it?

Actually, it doesn't really matter what your vid is as long as you're able to stably run your chip at your desired vcore. Vid is just the chip's default voltage/vcore when running at stock speed. If you can get your system to run at a vcore lower than the vid, then that's good! All in all, I don't see any problem here.

VID is what the chip thinks it needs at a given frequency, and it changes based on the frequency. So the chip thinks it needs 1.411V for that frequency. It may or may not need that voltage though, that's just what was programmed in at the factory. The Vcore is the actual voltage you are providing to the chip.

In short, VID doesn't really matter, what you care about is Vcore.
