The complexities are far too cumbersome that it offers a very limited military advantage on a grander scale. There is a significant trade off with the benefits of a mech form as opposed to a tank, and they have their tactical use, but regardless of ever-or-not we reach the technology to make the idea likably practical, they won't ever be a "solution".
As technology progresses, it has been proven, continuously, that we return to our roots.
The solution has always been the infantry as the core (in which we build upon), the rest of the divisions are merely tools for the infantry to use. The infantry have the upmost versatility and won't ever be replaced by "robots". It's a cool solution for the fan-fare arm-chair tacticians, but any sensible commander would never see robots as a replacement to what we have seen from the results of trail and error.
