Optimal numbers for my Q9550 for slight overclock?

Hi guys,

I decided to bump my Q9550s clocks after a long while, but forgot what the optimal amounts were when going to around 3.2-3.4GHz. I attached a pic of my current BIOS settings. So I guess the best would be to achieve 1:1? I did not dare to go above 3.2GHz for now, since I did not know what should I put as the numbers for RAM. Also I did not want to touch voltages yet, but I believe that with this little clocking there is no need if iirc. My cooling is completely basic so I am not planning to go higher than this.

If I want to go up to 3.4GHz or so what would be the best numbers for RAM? Or with 3.2GHz?

Thank you!

just bump your fsb to 400- from 333 and you should get there. If you got good ram it should just handle it. No voltage adjustment or anything.

getting it to 3.4 is easy, getting it over it is complicated.

Thanks for the reply. Could you specify for me, as I am a bit of a beginner still, what exactly is the 333 and 400 on the screenshot I sent? Is the FSB I am showing a different one from the one youre talking about?

gah, I haven't played with phoenix bios in forever. My board is intel. there is a description of pheonix bios controls here http://www.bcot1.com/bios1.html It's quite long. Should be in there though it looks comprehensive. Sorry i can't be more help.

I see. The guide didnt have such detailed information unfortunately, and it is an older version that mine I believe, so a lot of the settings are very different.

I upped my clocks to 3.4GHz with the settings of attached pictures, and ran Prime95 for 9 hours without errors last night with the Blend setting. Am I supposed to run it with some other setting as well to be sure?

Could someone confirm for me if the overlocked settings (values) I am using are correct or am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Forgot to mention about temperatures. In the morning when I checked the results, some cores were showing to be at 60C, but mostly 50-55C or so. Is this still acceptable?

with an overnight with the most processor intensive torture tester in existence? I's say that's a big yes. a q9950 can get away with temperatures up to 73c though it is pushing it. You;re totally fine. You can probably even get away with a bit more, more, though you're likely going to have to start messing with ram timings. A q9550 at 3.4 is a darn fast chip though, so you probably won't need to.
