2. Right on, makes sense.
3. Ah, ok. So you were stuttering in W8? I had no stuttering issues in W8 during the beta. Only W7 was a problem.
4. No, you haven't. All I see are a bunch of graphs w/ CPU usage. That tells me nothing. We need Fraps runs and preferably consistent and repeatable, where you enter a 64 person server @ the same spawn point, fire your weapon til it's out of ammo, toss a grenade, and walk perfectly straight. And then some chaotic runs peppered in. I'm not saying or asking you to DO THIS, but merely stating this as a good way to finally PROVE that you get more FPS w/ an i7.
5. Still undecided.
Aside from having to purchase Start8, I see no downgrades. The OS is LITTERED w/ little touches that improve the experience. It boots faster. No more Aero to worry about eating up your VRAM or causing other issues. Well, wait, actually there is one rather massive downgrade. Testing a CPU OC has been an absolute nightmare. W7 would just blue screen and take it. W8 freaks out and I've had to do system restores...one time LOSING BF3 and having to download the nearly 35GB worth of data...AGAIN. So yeah, just keep that in mind. Before you start messing about, create a restore point.
I'm not necessarily trying to poo on you, but I simply have not seen any substantiate FPS improvements w/ HT. That would be fine, but you're constant raggin' on i5's holds no water @ this point. Like I said, prove it and I'll happily jump ship. But just like that Corsair article claiming 2400 RAM as the 2nd coming, we need more proofs!!!
EDIT: Windows 8 4670K CPU usage on 64 person server:
EDIT2!: That looks a little low. I'm gonna have to compare w/ Windows Task Manager...
-I had stuttering with HT OF during the BETA ONLY and on both OS'
-You have to look harder - there are A LOT OF BENCHES I've done in the OP - graphs will be created soon. Be patient and appreciative.
-My VRAM on win7, funnily enough is only 1.5GB - and that's on a 2GB card, whilst playing 64p maps - solid 1.5GB VRAM usage. ALl this fuss about VRAM is now out the window for me - my 2GB card is more than enough to cope with this game.
-I never said there was ANY FPS improvements with HT on or OFF - However I did state that there are huge differences between having it on and off and the LOAD you have on each thread with HT on vs OFF.
-At what point have I said an i5 wouldn't be good enough, this is starting to piss me off - just read the OP. "i5's users will be happy to know there is no more stuttering"

I know it's wrong, and very OCN like, but I hope you guys are proven WRONG when someone comes in w/ HT on/off Fraps runs and it shows zero difference. Yes, I'm slightly evil. But hey, I'd be losing money if you were RIGHT! Don't be right. Don't be right. Don't be right.
There's no proof and/or conclusive data that shows HT on vs OFF will give you a HIGHER or LOWER FPS - the differences will be so small to determine, from my testing, that it makes me wonder how some benchmarks are created online.
I'll say it again:
HT helps your CPU with LESS LOAD throughout the threads.
Without HT you're looking at hitting a CONSTANT 100-80% load on your CPU. Whereas with HT you're looking at 60-80% load.
What does that load mean?
Well from the BETA we saw stuttering and with a simple educated guess: The more load you have on a CPU, the higher strain you are causing on the rest of your system: ie a bottleneck.
I personally think people that are on i5's and with SLI/crossfire GPUs are NOT doing themselves any favours.
For people like me, there's no real performance difference with or without HT - but again, if the CPU's are fully loaded and I have something else running (say fraps) then I'm sure the FPS WILL BE AFFECTED due tot he CPU being bottled at 100% - makes sense?

What to believe. IF I was actually seeing those kinds of usage, I would think I would be seeing higher temps regardless of type of load.
I can see what you mean - but I've seen no temp difference in core temp.
With HT ON on win7 I'm hitting a whopping 63c - which is extremely high, considering FOLDING takes me to 73c.
In BF34, I wouldn't hit 60c - 55c was more the average.
Thus, BF4 DOES put more strain on the CPU (if that wasn't already evident)Edited by Totally Dubbed - 11/10/13 at 4:04pm
