Did I not mount/apply correctly?

hey guys i added a freezer pro 7 over my stock cooler and i applied AS5 the way arctic cooling said to on their site (a thin line, i know some ppl say to do a bbsized drop). now my temps dropped a decent amount i think but less than i thought they would. do you guys think i could have applied too little or too much AS5? i know the 7 wasnt the best cooler out their but i thought it would do a good job for my future overclock given that my MB sucks at overclocking and it wont oc to high in the first place...anywho i only wanted less than 3.0 ghz anywho...maybe around 2.7ish is good for me....

well im not COMPLETELY sure lol......the last time i remember checking the core temps they were 42/40 but that was just one instance so i dont know if it was their norm.....but i know that on load after about 10 minutes they got to 52-54///
now my temps idle now are 39/36 (AS5 hasnt "set in" yet though).....and then i used orthos for about an hour and they peaked at 50/40something (around 50) i think then went to stay around 47.

so basically i can tell the load temps got especially better but idle not so extreme..

you mounted it to have the fan blowing twoards the back right?

Also, make shure everything is clipped in correctly.

yea i have it blowing toward the back and everything is clipped in good. i had a little difficulty putting it in but i thought i got it and made sure each clip was in correctly. and it should be because the whole thing doesnt seem to wobble at all

btw i think my case / MB just arent very good with temps. even my stock fan had crappier temps that it should have had. my case only has 2 fans..1 in the top back and one in the lower front. im gonna go ahead and change those with better fans. what you guys recommend

Would you mind posting a pic of your computer?

I would recommend the Thermatake Thunderbaldes.

Sounds like you mounted it ok, i stick a tiny blob about this big -> () Right in the middle and just twist a few degrees left and right as im putting it on.

At idle i have the fan stop as it's only 30°c, full load with this small o/c hits 45°c max.

Depending on your ambient temps that might be correct.

You should make sure you have good airflow in your case as that will really help you get better temps.

A nice 120mm fan in the back blowing out will be nice, and a 80/120mm fan blowing IN on the side window will help very nicely(if you are safe with modding you side panel)
