I disagree. Holding a launch event for a card you aren't going to actually release for at least a month is really poor form. They're the ones who have given Nvidia enough time to hold their own event to hype up the 780ti.
I think AMD blew the release of the 290X. Now, if the card performs and is priced well, all will be forgotten. If it flops, it'll just turn into another joke like Bulldozer.
Sadly AMD has done a wonderful job of shooting themselves in the foot over the last 4-6 years. They have/had a good fan base that's very loyal, yet they continue to botch the marketing and manufacturing process. The loyal consumers will tough it out, but they won't pull any of the loyal intel/nvidia users over unless they can show some results.
I'm not saying over the past 4-6 years they've had nothing but flops, don't confuse that point. They have released some good products, and some good innovating ideas. But looking at the big picture atleast in the gaming aspect they've not kept up.
