Should I send back my 3 day old gtx 770 4gb for a r9 280x / 29 290? - Page 6

Go AMD, they'll save you money and it's a good time to have one with mantle support around the corner.

If you can find a voltage unlocked 7970 I would pounce before it's gone. It's the same chip only the 280 is voltage locked and more expensive.

Good luck in your decision

The AMD card is actually more expensive than the nvidia one I'm looking at for the same performance, the only thing is that extra 1GB vram so I'd consider paying that extra £25 for the 280x is worth it for that. Also we don't know how much mantle will increase performance or in how many games. I'll probably buy BF4 but there's a chance I'll get get sick of it after 2 weeks and not play it for over a year again like I did with BF3.

If you're not in a hurry, wait and see how the 290x changes the game.

That's what you could do.

It will most likely only effect the prices of high end cards that are out of my price range (GTX 780 up - also Nvidia are releasing a GTX 780Ti probably to compete with the 290x if it does end up being between the 780 and the Titan) so I don't see much point waiting for that. If the prices of 770's drop I bet it will still be at least £300 for a 4GB version.
