Hey guys and gals of OCN im starting to get into good audio for my home system. The two things im looking at is a pair of tower speakers for $400 and ill get my own receiver later and add in center and surrounds down the road or spend $300 on this Harman Kardon system with 2 custom speakers that i dont really have info on and just add center and surrounds later down the road aswell.

These are the Towers for $400

Hear is the Harman Kardon system for $300.

http://classifieds.castanet.net/details/harman_kardon_complete_system_new_lower_price..must_sell_as_i_am_moving/1762269/

now i know from my research that the Paradigm 11SE MKIII speakers are a good set of towers but the Harman Kardon system is at a really good price and i would be able to start using it right away instead of having to wait a little bit for to pick up a receiver im just looking for some good advice that people smarter then me would know about. Thanks in advance.

in my area i could pick up a used stereo receiver for $25~ any day at a thriftstore / pawn / resale place...

so if you like the paradigms i say get those (i like those speakers ) the other deal is active also...but personally i would really rather have those towers .... i'm not sure on the price I'd go check them out offer $250 if they check out and try to land at $275 or $300?

then grab first 1/2 decent (see this http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5634 on how to test a used amp / receiver to make sure it doesn't blow you new speakers up however.) $30~ receiver I could find at G/W or SA or whatever

^ Going active is better. Passive audio system is inferior in SQ.

Start over. Save up money and pickup a descent USB DAC for your PC. Then get some descent active speakers (studio monitors).
