Static noise from left speaker - Klipsch Promedia 2.1's

Heya guys,

I recently noticed a light static sound coming from my left speaker, even when the volume is turned down to zero. It's not loud but now that I heard it, I kind of focus on the sound often. There's also no power button on these speakers, so the noise is constant.

After poking around a bit, I traced it back to the connections on the subwoofer. The static is coming out of whichever speaker is connected to the left side connectors.

The only thing I tried is cleaning the contacts where the wires clip onto, using alcohol. I also tried googling a solution, but most of the results deal with a faulty control pod, and no one mentions the subwoofer connectors.

Has anyone run into this problem before? The warranties are expired, so this is a really bad time to get into a jam.

If you've already polished the contacts the baby needs surgery I'm afraid.

Ohhhhh man.

Is this a solo repair job? Or should I bring it to some sort of repair shop?

It really depends on what make and model it is, and how confident you feel AND what is actually wrong frown.gif If it's just a loose connection, or a wire that's running a bit too close to the power supply, sure. But if it is something else, I don't know man frown.gif
