Is my silverstone sfx 450w good enough for the r9 270x? The listed system requirements is 500watt but I assume that is because most people have low quality psu's

R9 270x model: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&pid=2037&psn=&lid=1&leg=0

On another note, I'm upgrading from a hd7850 and I have started to wonder if it's really worth the 70$ extra

Yes, your 450W PSU should be enough for the Sapphire Radeon R9 270X. I wouldn't recommend doing a lot of overclocking though. I'd sell your current 7850 for $100-$120. The upgrade probably won't be worth the cost. It's up to you though.

It's just an HD 7870 with slightly higher stock clocks...

No, you don't need 500W. And no, it's not a big upgrade.

I'm not sure its worth it either. After I sell my hd 7850 I need to add 70$ to buy the R9 270x

I personally, wouldn't upgrade to anything less than the Sapphire Radeon R9 280X if I were in your shoes but you'd want an XFX ATX 550 Power Supply to power it.
