My logic for buying my unit was simple:
Option 1: Buy €300 worth of PC parts. At most gonna last 3 years before needing an upgrade. At the ultra most.
Counter-reasoning: My entire computer is aging, if I don't get limited by GPU I will by CPU, and if not, I will run out of RAM.
Option 2: Buy a Wii U (€300). Six years before needing a swap. Seven, perhaps.
Counter-reasoning: Games are usually more expensive than what I pay for PC games.
Then I made an average time spent in games estimation, and according to my Wii/3DS gameplay logs I spend an average of 60 hours per Nintendo game across an one year lifespan (I disregarded Pokemon White's 260 hours). The average gameplay on my Steam library doesn't reach 40h and those results are heavily askew by Skyrim's 244h and Chivalry's 128h (lifetime gameplay).
Plus, most of my Nintendo 1st party titles allow for 4 player cooperative gaming, and I get access to all the exclusives library, including my favorite saga ever, Zelda.
Money wise, franchise-wise, and multiplayer wise it simply made no sense to upgrade my computer instead of getting a Wii U.
