I had a set of Sony MDR-NC500D with the V-Moda Boompro mic but those cans were nearly 4 years old and starting to fall apart so I ordered the Turtle Beach Stealth 500P - wireless PS4 headphones. TB claims "DTS Headphone X" or somesuch but honestly, they just sound good and they're comfortable to me. My only issues are the mic monitoring and the LED pulse on the headphones. The way TB did the wireless is pretty clever, and they're of course rechargable.

I am however considering sending them back and picking up the V-Moda Crossfade M-100...

Those with Skullcandy PLYR1... Does everything you need come in the box? Do I need to purchase something?

How do you set it up to the PS4 and also to a Smart TV?

It has everything included. There is a receiver part that has the cable inputs/outputs with the fiber optic part. Here is a link to the manual pdf. There arent any pictures in it though. I can take a pic of it when I get off work.

Here's the pic:

So you run fiber optic from ps4 into it and fiber out to your receiver/tv/whatever. The usb port is for charging the headset and the optional input would be from your TV or whatever. Only a stereo jack for that though.

Thanks bro. thumb.gif It is not as plug and play as my Sony Headsets but still looks hassle free :roll eyes:

I can't wait to get my hands on it. Do you enjoy your headset?

yeah unfortunately you can't get the Dolby Surround through USB so you have to go the fiber route. They are my kids actually. He chose them and I got stuck with the Pulse lol. He loves them though and has used them every day for a year now. They still look new and I'm sure he would have cracked the Pulse set by now. They sound much better than the Pulse imo.

Just curious to ask since people seem to be on the topic of headphones... is digital surround sound worth a damn to anyone? Tbh I HONESTLY just can't really tell a drastic difference as opposed to stereo. I mean yeah sure there's apparently a slosh of reverb added and eq control involved to make things appear to sound far or behind you... meh..

I remember as a young kid, walking into some shop or mall sometime back in the late 90s and they had a demo display of a surround sound headset... They were playing jazz through it and the sound was downright PHENOMENAL!!!! I felt as though the bass player was standing right on my foot, the drum kit encompassed the room with its percussive sound, keyboards far to the left on the sound stage with little quips from winds chiming in from all over...

Fast-forward a decade and some change, and I'm trying to find a headset with SS and have only been disappointed so far... Maybe it's something akin to chasing the first high or something lol? But seriously, how does this pass for SS?? I imagine the original set I demoed had actual drivers in it, but even putting the SS aside, the actual sound from most gaming headsets nowadays are horrible frown.gif

It depends on the headset, the emulation software and how well the game is coded and mixed for surround. I find my Astro A40s do a decent job of surround emulation.

With a proper setup multispeaker earcups with 3.5mm jacks for each speaker will trump any simulated surround sound headsets ... obviously but dang they sound like crap for anything other than situational awareness. I still have a set of Psyko Audio true 5.1 surround sound headsets and its just amazing for informing you of what is happening around you but the 50mm drivers crackle with even the slightest hint of a bass signal. I have tried so many simulated surround sound headsets and none can hold a candle to my psyko audio's for surround sound. Mote point with a console as they dont have 5.1/7.1 analog with 3.5mm jacks tongue.gif
