The Official Sony Playstation 4 Thread.

Gaining favorable previews and plenty of pre-orders, the PS4 looks like the next-gen console to beat, and Sony says it was designed with an overarching theme of a "frictionless and seamless" gaming experience.

The PS4 will go on sale on Nov. 15 in the U.S for $399., followed by the U.K. on Nov. 29 for ÂŁ349. Australia will also see the console then with a price tag of $549, while Canada too shares the U.S.'s Nov. 15 launch date.

Basically as it stands the demand for the Playstation 4 has been immense! If you haven't pre-ordered yet and want the new PS4 console, I suggest you hurry up and you might be lucky and get it before Christmas.

Features
Personalized, Curated Content
The PS4™ system has the ability to learn about your preferences. It will learn your likes and dislikes, allowing you to discover content pre-loaded and ready to go on your console in your favorite game genres or by your favorite creators. Players also can look over game-related information shared by friends, view friends' gameplay with ease, or obtain information about recommended content, including games, TV shows and movies.

Play as You Download
Increase your play time with the ability to play games while they're downloading titles. When a player purchases a game that is enabled with this feature, the PS4™ system downloads a portion of the game, so play can start, while the rest is downloaded in the background during actual gameplay.

Remote Play
Remote Play on the PS4™ system fully unlocks the PlayStation®Vita system's potential, making it the ultimate companion device. With the PS Vita system, gamers will be able to play a range of PS4™ titles on the beautiful 5-inch display over Wi-Fi access points in a local area network.

PlayStation® App
The "PlayStation® App" will enable iPhone, iPad, and Android™ based smartphones and tablets to become second screens for the PS4™ system. Once installed on these devices, players can view in game items, purchase PS4™ games and download them directly to the console at home, or remotely watch the gameplay of other gamers playing on their devices.

Complete Control
The DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller features familiar controls while incorporating new ways to interact with games and other players. Improved dual analog sticks and trigger buttons offer an even greater sense of control, while the capacitive touch pad opens up endless potential for new gameplay possibilities. Experience the evolution of play with the DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller.

Playstation VR External Power and Processing box as of 1st November 2015.

Playstation VR at Australia 2015
We were supposed to miss out on the Playstion VR at PaxAus because we have an exclusive with them later this month. At the last minute they squeezed us in for a taster lol. We have a ton of video and photos it's all getting edited at the moment. I'm taking an easy day today I'm melted from the 4 days of running up and down the Exhibition centre and all over Melbourne.

Playstation VR is awesome! No motion blur and 120hz, no latency issues (18ms), fluid animations, great colour, comfortable, no screen door issues, ability to stand and game and never felt like you will fall, I was concerned about the Move controller's being laggy but they were not. Everything was so natural! No kids will want a led Led TV in their bedroom they will want this headset!
I can't wait to see these Playstation VR headsets in stores soon. Also I like the fact this headset will be the same throughout the PS4 life. No new models to disrupt Sony and Development echo system.

If you have a PS4 this is a must have!

Does anyone know if they are going to be selling the bundled headset at launch?
I haven't seen anything about it but am wondering what we are suppose to do if we break our bundled one. I'm not trading my surround sound for a headset so I need a single ear setup just for chat. So far it's looking like if you break your original mic you're screwed.

Sony announced the only headset that will work at launch is the one that's bundled with the console. Not even USB headsets are going to work at launch.

The turtle beach ones are supposedly going to work but I don't really care for the quality of them and I need to be able to hear sound outside of the game.

Oh well all I need is the sound for now and I can probably sync in my old reliable Bluetooth like I did w/ my PS3. I'm hoping the update is present around launch for the Sony Headsets since I thought they mentioned at E3 or PAX that it was going to capable to use those headsets. Since yeah I hate the 1 ear headsets that pick up my home stereo.

Blue tooth will not work at all now. They've abandoned blue tooth for headsets. http://m.itworld.com/personal-tech/378487/playstation-4-wont-support-usb-bluetooth-headsets-sonys-first-major-ps4-launch-?mm_ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F

They've completely flipped on what the original release they put out on headsets. At launch only turtle beach and the ear bud will work. It also doesn't sound like their going to be in a hurry to update to make USB work. They just say eventually with no mention at all of a time frame.

This sounds bad. I can't imagine what would keep them from getting a simple Usb headset to work. Wonder what they did to make this problem happen? It must be kind of a bad problem too if they can't get this fixed before launch. They would have had almost 2 months to get an update ready since announcing that they won't work.

Same here. I can't wait for the opportunity to preorder it.
Then again, I want to wait for the reviews first.

The only game I will probably pick up on launch is NBA 2K14. It's been years since I have played a basketball video game. I think the last one for me was NBA Live 09.

Yeah it looks to be a new evolution in the shooter genre, especially with the ability to play support via a tablet. Which makes me wonder how far cross-platform will they go with it.
