I'd have to agree with the unlikely part for. The PS3 lasted 7 years, the PS4 will not make it that far, 2018-2019 seems very reasonable.
This generation of consoles should have been held back. Sony / MS have set themselves up for a very rough next generation.
By 2020 4K will be very popular if ISPs and cable providers are willing to make a push for it, with that being said consoles won't even be close to being able to run 4K games.
The hardware performance per dollar just won't be there yet.
I'm genuinely curious what Sony and MS will come up with next. Standard hardware simply won't be adequate, unless you want 4K / 30 fps or less for everything.
I think the next gen will be cloud based. This would allow everything to be mobile and would allow for an enormous jump in graphics while utilizing little hardware power on the user's end.
We're already seeing devices capable of this such as the Nvidia Shield.
