Dr.Richard Marks had a talk about PSVR at the Vision AR/VR Summit last week. The video has now been released online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZVVs5O8NC0

Some details as I watch:
*<18ms super low latency thanks to fixed hardware.
100degree FOV.
Console effectively ~60% more powerful than same-spec PC (as reported by middleware providers, not Sony).

"PSVR is extremely close to being on par with Vive and the Rift w/ a gtx970 based on the tests I've done. The team from Epic (Nick & Tom) have also stated the same in at least one of their VR Twitch streams. If your app runs at 90Hz on a PC with a gtx970 then you should be very close to 60 on the ps4. And with the 120Hz reprojection applied it's glassy smooth."

Reprojection was previously on as an option but now Sony has made it permanently on as it has no down-sides (contra keeping it off).
The breakout box doesn't touch the signal between the PS4 and the PSVR, just takes it post and warps it for TV. The only thing it feeds to the PSVR is the 3D audio which it *does* process. No PS4 GPU/CPU cycles spent on Audio.
Reconfirms that the only new hardware is the PSVR hmd itself, the rest is what's already in the market (PS4 camera, PS Move, DS4).

Here's a video of the 'Disc Battle' demo that had an hardware error during PSX keynote (here's how it is when working): https://youtu.be/XZVVs5O8NC0?t=1601

Edit: before the masterrace comes in here and starts flaming remember the PSVR has a lower resolution than the PC counterparts.

Carmack(sp) also would have preferred a lower resolution on their device tongue.gif

Maybe some of you guys are interested. I got those games on steam and they are not particularly good compared to other RE games, but if someone likes third person action games that pretend to be horror games that lost all roots to their original predecessors to favor a wider audience then you might be happy about this. (RE4 was pretty good at the time though. Played through it on gamecube back then)

In March 1996, the world was introduced to the first Resident Evil game, which helped shape survival horror as we know it and has since brought you some of the most loved games of all time. You’ve been able to play through the origins stories that started everything with the recent releases of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0, and we’ve confirmed that a remake of Resident Evil 2 is on the way. Since then, the series and story have evolved to amp up the action and introduce new epic gaming moments with Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6. If you haven’t had a chance to play these yet or if you’ve been wanting to play them on your current consoles, we’ve got good news for you. Starting with Resident Evil 6 on March 29, all three games will be available for PS4 and Xbox One for an MSRP of only $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99 each.

Imho 20€/$ is pretty expensive for EACH considering how old they are and you could have basically bought all of them + 4 more games on a humble bundle 4 months ago. They should've made it a collection for 29,99$/€.

Yeah it's a bit over the top, but damn I grew up with RE1-3. I remember when I was too young to play the PSX Resident Evil games and needed to ask my brother and uncle to buy them for me.

No game will ever make me feel again like when I was young and playing Resident Evil for the first time. The mansion was so damn scary and the atmosphere so great. Ink ribbons were scarce and you were afraid to leave the room.

For me it is sad to see what Resident Evil has become, but I am super happy about the announcement of Resident Evil 2 Remake smile.gif

I only played Resident Evil 5 in PS3. It was a good game but it was NOT a Resident Evil game.

I wholeheartedly agree with that smile.gif

I wish they would have stayed with the same style for the mainline resident evil games and made the third person shooter action oriented games a spin-off series.

That LED has no realy use as of now. However if I am not mistaken it is a requirement for VR tracking if you use DS4 with it.

i have no interest in VR at all. but it would be useful for syncing it to other Bluetooth devices because it blinks when its searching.
