I believe Nvidia will try to regain the top spot with a Titan Ultra, it will be a beefed up GK110, The problem is that they would have to price it high and then the consumer would have to decide if the extra performance is worth the price. 20 nm release is not going to happen until 2nd half 2014, due to TSCM not having that process ready.

Plus the extra ram vs the 780 from both the 290 and 290x, greater opencl power (this one obviously isn't requiring any benchmarks) and for some, a new high end card to bench.
And don't forget about the possibility of Real Audio and Mantle

I actually don't believe Nvidia will release a Titan Ultra. I believe that they will release some lower SKU's such as the 770 TI's and lower the prices of the existing products to make way for them.
Besides, a "beefed up" GK110, would just mean more cores enabled, or am I wrong? You would only see a minimal jump in performance if that was the case...

Yea the rumor was something like 2880 cuda cores, and I agree it may be minimal but I guess from a marketing standpoint they can claim they have the fastest single gpu card.

I'm excited lol knowing i'll end up with a Monster Single GPU soon at a great price whether its a GTX 780 or Titan on Sale or a R9 290X at a great Launch price biggrin.gif

That's not really the point.

At similar clocks and with a lower memory clock the 290X beats the GTX Titan up in those benchmarks. If they are true and they very well could be representative of the performance of both cards then you've got a card that's faster clock for clock (which is what matters here above everything else) and a lot cheaper. That's what we all want, healthy competition.

Not all GTX Titans clock past 1150mhz on the reference BOIS and not all clock that high with an unlocked BOIS and at 1.212v. The fact a lot of us run 1202mhz doesn't mean much here, that's the upper end of the spectrum of GTX Titans with 1240mhz being golden. So since we don't know if the 290X is voltage locked, to what voltage and or what power limits the card has. The way the GTX Titan overclocks doesn't mean much yet. We always find ways to overclock our cards higher than reference out of the box cards can go, so some random reviewers overclocks are never anything to go by since most don't have either the desire to or the right tools to do so, since a lot acknowledge most won't be pushing them as high as the OCN GTX Titan club does.

When reviews do release, I think it's perfectly reasonable to make judgements based on 1100-1150mhz clock for clock comparisons of both cards on the reference BIOSs.

I'm excited and just want a credible benchmark released so I can start selling my GTX Titan or not.
