[Various] New Benchmarks Reveal The R9 290x Leading Over GTX Titan - Page 8

Wonder what the power usage is like...
The titan was on top of the world with no competition for 8 months. No performance now can take that away. I remember the same argument working for the 7970 vs 680 not too long ago. My plan has always been to double my 7970's but since AMD gave the finger to eyefinity users ( which it championed so fervently) I might just have to drop the ole' girl and get a 290x. Then my epeen will be new, long, and hard!

Of course, that doesn't prevent AMD from doing at least partially the same with the 290X and leaving 290 the 'reasonably priced' one.

The 780 is too cutted. Depending on the yield, titan may be justified at march, not so much now.

I can't even imagine the OpenCL calculation speeds drool.gif. This will be great for distributed computing power.

If this is launched at $550, then AMD will do good by a lot of users. Hope this isn't the R9 290 price though....

Isn't this part being a little subjective? I mean i'm not saying the data is always right but it is a good comparison point especially when everyone's taste is different... i do believe that framerate graphs would be a better comparison then personal opinion.

Either way, can't wait for the launch of the AMD cards, cmon Nvidia price drops... been wanting to get a 3rd GTX 780... at the end of the day as long as my cards can put out a min of 75fps on 1080+ on ultra settings is good enough for me regardless of brand

LOL! Shouldn't you be able to pay bills anyways if you were able to buy 2 titans? Priorities... wink.gif

$1600 a pair? Not too bad , score for someone who wanted a pair of Titan's. I was set on a 780 myself for my SG05 build because of its size and power draw, However I may just be considering a 290X as well...

780 might be slightly underpriced to reflect that (that's why I said "(approximately)") though the titan is almost certainly priced as a luxury product. It's consistent with the history of almost any technological product line. The very best gets a price premium because simply there are tons of "I want the best no matter the price" people (many of those are in this forum) or some people's real needs are so high that even a high price won't stop them (e.g. some FPS gamers require 120FPS or 144FPS at all times, that need isn't fed easily).

THAT. But no need to bash a product designed for pure performance for its price. That's like bashing a Mercedes for being unaffordable to the masses.
